The Boston office of Berman DeValerio recently sponsored a volunteer excursion to the Greater Boston Food Bank, the largest hunger-relief organization in New England. Twenty-two lawyers and staff participated in the weekday effort, the second the firm has organized to benefit the charitable foundation.
The Berman DeValerio volunteers, grouped with six others, spent three hours sorting through pallets of bread and bananas, a total of 10,440 pounds of food. The group’s effort made possible 5,538 meals for those in need, according to food bank officials. Berman DeValerio’s staff is proud to have helped the Greater Boston Food Bank’s goal of distributing one meal a day to every needy person in eastern Massachusetts.
The Boston office has a growing relationship with the Greater Boston Food Bank. This is its second volunteer day at the charity’s Boston facility. And earlier this year, the Boston office won the fourth annual Massachusetts Legal Food Frenzy, a friendly charitable competition sponsored by Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley. The firm raised the equivalent of 29,906 pounds of food, which was donated to the Greater Boston Food Bank, the Merrimack Valley Food Bank, the Worcester County Food Bank and the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.
