Berman Tabacco’s Boston office supported the Greater Boston Food Bank today by sponsoring its sixth annual volunteer day. Twenty-seven members of the firm spent two-and-half hours sorting pallets of food into organized relief boxes for the food bank’s network of local food pantries, shelters, and other communities in need.
The combined effort of the group sorted through 12,771 pounds of food. According to food bank officials, this translated into providing 10,643 meals for those in need—the equivalent of feeding a family of four for two years. Berman Tabacco’s staff is honored to have helped the Greater Boston Food Bank’s goal of distributing one meal per day to every person in need in eastern Massachusetts.
The Greater Boston Food Bank’s customers include vulnerable populations. The food bank reports that, in 2017, it distributed 60.7 million pounds of food throughout 190 cities and towns in Massachusetts. More information about the organization is available at https://www.gbfb.org/.
